Semaglutide, which is also known as Wegovy®, Ozempic®, and Rybelsus®, is an FDA-approved appetite suppressant that is administered once a week via subcutaneous injection. When blood glucose levels are high, semaglutide activates GLP-1 receptors in the brain. This stimulation leads to insulin secretion while decreasing glucagon secretion. Additionally, semaglutide slows down the stomach’s digestion process, causing food to remain in the stomach for a longer time. This makes the stomach feel “full” for an extended period, thereby suppressing appetite.

Semaglutide is a medication that has been shown to produce weight loss results similar to those of bariatric surgery, making it a unique treatment option for patients. It has also been observed that patients who use semaglutide experience a significant decrease in appetite and sugar cravings.
At Prevention Medical Center, we provide semaglutide injections along with L-carnitine, an amino acid that promotes the mobilization of fat. This combination of treatments works together to effectively suppress appetite and improve fat metabolism.
It’s worth noting that, like any medication, semaglutide may have side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, heartburn, and burping. If you experience any of these side effects, please consult with one of our healthcare providers.
Semaglutide Injection typically has a copay of $300 to $500, with out-of-pocket costs ranging from $1,500 to $3,000 per month. This is simply out of reach for many people. That is why we have partnered with an independent supplier to provide cash pricing beginning at $175 per month.
